#BlackLivesMatterDC | BLM DC & Shut Down DC call for accountability after cop kills Lazarus Wilson at DC Wharf

29 JULY 2022 Black Lives Matter D.C. and Shut Down D.C. gathered at the Wharf in Washington, D.C. to protest and call for transparency after the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Lazarus Wilson, a Black man.

Lazarus Wilson was killed after being shot by an off-duty Metropolitan Police Department officer after authorities say he was pointing a handgun at the crowded area on D.C.’s waterfront.

The groups called for the Metropolitan Police Department to “release all the tapes” of the July 16 shooting.

… the system is not built for Black people. And don’t tell us that Lazarus Wilson could not still be here when we constantly see white men armed and be arrested and taken to Burger King during mass killings. So as ya’ll judge Black people and say he had a gun, know that white people walk away all the time with guns and knives. So, I want to say we want to know what happened to ‘David,’ because his family calls him ‘David’ and I want to personalize and humanize ‘David,’ the Black man who was loved, who’s gone now and his son doesn’t have a father,
